Wrap up....

Just finished off this massive beast in time for the proper winter chill. I love having a really long scarf to wrap around and cosy down into. I also love having scarves to match all outfits so this make covers a lot of bases.
I've got quite a large stash of wool so I hunted out four of my favourite winter shades; grey, black, navy (much darker then the photo shows it) and berry and sat down infront of a lot of Breaking Bad.
This took about 4 hours in total (I'm no speed knitter) and its about 2 meters long and now I've got it on I don't think I'll be taking it off until about...... erm April?

Fantastic Mr Fox.....

Since it started to get a bit chilly I've been getting the knitting needles out again. I've got a huge bundle of lovely wools to get through but no patience for actual knitting patterns. I'm much happier sitting in front of a few episodes of Breaking Bad knitting along to K1 P1 rather than trying to figure out where the hell the thumb gusset goes (I tried to make mittens....for about 4 days......these have now been unravelled and turned into a lovely PLAIN scarf)
I was gifted some lovely thick orange and brown wool from a friend who found knitting really wasnt for him, he came along to the refresher class last year and looked like he was ready to stick those needles somewhere eyewatering about half way through; best to give up and give all that wool to me yeah? :)
Anyways, I finally thought up how to use it after seeing this tutorial for this really cute fox scarf....

However, as much as I wanted to make this scarf I didnt really want to go and buy fabric for it, and I had nothing in the stash suitable, so why not knit this cutie?
Like I said, I'm no good with a pattern, I know how to add and take away stitches so I just went for it and eyeballed the whole thing....

I just used knit throughout and split it into three main parts; head, body and tail. I then added the little ears and there he was...Fantastic Mr Fox :)

What have you been knitting? Anyone else feel the same way about those damn knitting patterns??!

Bows for Bros; work in progress....

Things are starting to pick up in Etsy land, that must be christmas around the corner. I've had an amazing order for a big set of matching bow tie's for the men in a wedding party in gorgeous navy candy stripes. Our hello betty bow Bows for Bro's range has been getting quite popular, which is just brill :)
Although these have been making my eyes go a little bit wonky at times (all those stripes!) it's been really great to work on one job lot. I'm pretty much finished so I'll soon be back onto making up Christmas Gmen for our stall at Craftaganza in December....oooh I do love a bit of Christmas stitching.

By Hand London; Anna......

I caved.....I veered off the list and bought another pattern, I succumbed to sewers blog envy and got myself the By Hand London Anna pattern, this was a good choice to have made...

I've seen so many of these lovelies all over the internet. Favourites include...

Roisin's spotty cutie...

Dixie's knit wonder....

And Mary's spooky special...

I went for a floral crepe de chine version. I thought this was probably the best pattern for something with a bit of weight and drape.
Firstly I love the packaging that the pattern came in, such a cute little folder and lovely illustrations. I used the shorter version but as it's a midi I took another few inches off the length as I knew I'd be mainly wearing this dress with flats and a midi does not look so great on me with flats. The pattern cut out really well, I took some tips off others blogs and made sure I marked each peice so I didnt muddle up all of those skirt peices.
Construction was really quick and easy (apart from having a stress with the needle and fabric, I find it so strange that if you have the wrong needle it just doesnt sew-how does it know??? Anyways, finer needle bought and disaster averted)

The fit on this dress is just great, those little under bust front pleats are so dam cute....

I've been wearing this loads, it's a perfect autumn dress to go with tights and a cardi. I think I could be tempted into a long version for next summer, mmmm summer.
